

Miranda Lam, KC is the President & Chief Legal Officer at Acuitas Therapeutics, Inc. In this role, Miranda oversees business development, legal affairs, strategic alliance management, and strategic planning, and plays a central role in forging partnerships that drive innovation and advance Acuitas’ mission to improve human health.
Before joining Acuitas in 2022, Miranda was an equity partner at the national law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where she gained significant recognition for her legal expertise and was a trusted business advisor to private and public enterprises across Canada and globally. A skilled litigator, Miranda has been recognized as a Leading Lawyer in Commercial Litigation in independent publications such as Chambers Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada, and Benchmark Canada: The Definitive Guide to Canada’s Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys. She has been named in Vancouver Magazine’s Power 50 List of the City’s Most Influential People (2018), and has been identified as a “Leading Lawyer under 40” by Lexpert (2017) and as one of Business in Vancouver’s “Forty Under 40” (2013). In 2023, Miranda was recognized by YWCA Vancouver as a Woman of Distinction in the “Business & the Professions” category, and was identified in 2025 by Business in Vancouver as one of British Columbia’s 500 most influential business leaders. She was appointed King’s Counsel in December 2023.
Miranda is a frequent speaker, championing the life sciences and biotech industry, as well as topics such as corporate governance, and diversity and inclusion. She has also served as faculty for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, The Directors’ College and The Advocates Society – and as an adjunct professor on corporate law topics at the University of British Columbia Allard School of Law.
Miranda currently serves as Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of British Columbia and the Board Chair of the BC Cancer Foundation. She is also a member of the board of directors of UBC Properties Trust and the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade. She has previously chaired the boards of the Vancouver Foundation (the largest community foundation in Canada), the UBC Alumni Association and Vantage Point, and has served as a director of the board of the United Way of the Lower Mainland and Imagine Canada.
