How Vaccines Are Developed

At Acuitas, we are always on the lookout for factual information about the safety and efficacy of vaccines that we can share, to help our blog readers to be better informed. After all, knowledge is power.

We came across this short video on how vaccines are developed on the Government of Canada website and thought you would find it of interest. It provides details on the process that scientists go through to develop a vaccine and puts it into context of the COVID-19 pandemic that the world is facing. To date, two COVID-19 vaccines have been approved for use in Canada and we expect more over the coming months, as several companies will provide the appropriate clinical trial data to Health Canada.

When you are able, please get a vaccine. We all need to come together to defeat the vicious and deadly coronavirus. As you can see from the video, a great deal of scientific expertise and review goes into the development of a vaccine and there are detailed review measures in place before a vaccine is approved for use.

In the meantime, please follow the direction of your health authority, physically distance yourself from others not in your household, wear a mask, and wash your hands often.
