The #ScienceUpFirst Campaign
Misinformation comes in many forms. While social media has many positive uses, unfortunately it also helps to facilitate misinformation, including about COVID-19 and related vaccines.
In an effort to combat misinformation, inaccuracies, speculation and more, scientists and health experts in Canada have launched a nationwide campaign using social media to raise awareness of the facts, debunk incorrect information, and share science-based content. You can find out more about the effort at: www.scienceupfirst.com.
According to the campaign’s news release, this initiative came about as a result of conversations between Nova Scotia Senator Stan Kutcher and Timothy Caulfield, Canadian Research Chair in Health Law and Policy at the University of Alberta. #ScienceUpFirst is led by the Canadian Association of Science Centres, COVID-19 Resources Canada, and the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta.
At Acuitas Therapeutics, we know that it is important that people have access to the facts about COVID-19 from how to prevent getting it to the safety and efficacy of the vaccines. #ScienceUpFirst is an important initiative and one that all Canadians can be a part of. Please check out their website for more information and to see how you can help spread facts and stop misinformation from being shared.
